Diane earned her BA at San Diego State University in sociology, psychology, and history. She also earned her teaching certificate and Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction – gifted and talented education – from SDSU. Diane began her teaching career in El Cajon, California teaching a 4/5/6 class for seven years in a gifted and talented magnet school. Moving to Idaho, she taught 7/8 grade communication skills, history, reading, and PE for five years in Sandpoint. For the past 21 years, Diane has been teaching at Garfield Elementary both in and out of APPLE. APPLE has a double; meaning for her because although she is a APPLE teacher, she is also an APPLE parent. This is Diane’s 20th year as a parent and 19th year as an APPLE III teacher. (Note to parents: Once an APPLE parent, always an APPLE parent with or without children in the program). Diane enjoys reading, sewing, gardening, quilting, and sports (GU Basketball and the Mariners), Labrador Retrievers, traveling, her canoe, her Bambi, and anything to do with the family! For the past 42 years, Diane has been married to her husband, John. They have three children Jay, 38; Whitney, 28; and Kelsey, 26.
